Dr. Varsha Tripathi D.C.

Dr. Varsha Tripathi’s passion for healthy living and fascination with the mechanics of the human body sparked a desire to pursue a career in healthcare. She completed her BSc. in Kinesiology with Honours at McMaster University, where a love for sports led to a successful four years on the varsity rugby team. It was during this time, after incurring a number of injuries, that she was introduced to the benefits of chiropractic care. Dr. Tripathi graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. In learning the importance of addressing muscle imbalances, she discovered how well yoga therapy and chiropractic care complement one another. A lifelong yoga practitioner, she then acquired a teaching certification from the Sivananda Yoga Centre.

Dr. Tripathi has additional training in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, Complete Concussion Management (CCMI), OTZ Technique, Post-Natal Rehabilitation and Advanced Pediatric Techniques. She believes in a holistic approach to care and integrates different tools in order to reduce pain and restore biomechanical function in the body. Through a combination of techniques including manipulation, clinical acupuncture, myofascial release and active rehabilitation, she is able to treat neuromusculoskeletal disorders and related functional manifestations.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tripathi can be found triathlon training or teaching yoga in the local community. Her goal as a practitioner is to help patients discover within themselves the tools to achieve balance in both mind and body.

Dr. Patricia McCord D.C.

Dr. Patricia McCord D.C., located in Toronto Canada, graduated Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 1991. Dr. McCord is one of four senior OTZ Technique instructors and, to date, is the only OTZ technique instructor practicing in Canada.

Dr. McCord runs two very successful multi- disciplinary clinics. Both clinics offer complementary alternative health care doctors and therapists who work hand in hand to address a full spectrum of health care needs for patients through natural means. In order to individualize each patient’s treatment protocol from a chiropractic perspective, Dr. McCord incorporates several manual techniques in addition to her OTZ specialization (i.e. MPI, Gonstead, Diversified, SOT) in the treatment of both spinal and extremity related conditions.

Dr. McCord’s path to becoming a chiropractic doctor began after being successfully treated for chronic postural strain by a CMCC (Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College) student intern. She was inspired by the intern’s ability to positively improve the quality of life of his patients safely and effectively. It was clear that her career path at that time as a financial analyst would never prove to be nearly so rewarding. Awakened by this revelation, Dr. McCord embarked on a 6 year journey, left the financial brokerage firm, entered York University, acquired the necessary prerequisites for Chiropractic College and emerged from CMCC as a newly minted DC in 1991. She feels that chiropractic is her true vocation in life and has been in love with taking care of patients ever since.

In addition to delivering full-time patient care, Dr. McCord is a CMCC approved mentor and, in that capacity, has helped many students to gain additional clinical experience outside of the school environment. Over and above the formal mentorship program, Dr. McCord has always encouraged students to come into her clinic to observe a real life practice during the day, and to assist in the improvement of their adjustment and diagnostic skills after clinic hours.

Dr. McCord reached a career turning point in April 2011, when she was first introduced to the OTZ Technique at the World Chiropractic Congress in Rio De Janeiro. After over twenty years in practice and, after attending many continuing education seminars, she was excited to discover a new way to significantly improve patient outcomes. Seeing the tremendous benefits that this technique provided, she was immediately on board and through these new experiences was proud to be the first chiropractor invited to take part in a team of health professionals working with the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation, to update treatment guidelines regarding concussions with persistent symptoms.

Early success with the treatment of Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, as well as discovering typically more rapid resolution and generally better outcomes through the addition of utilizing the OTZ treatment method in her practice, Dr. McCord felt compelled to seek to become a part of the OTZ team of instructors. Dr. McCord looks forward to giving back to the chiropractic profession by assisting other doctors to master the OTZ technique for the benefit of their patients as well as the chiropractic profession as a whole.

At her clinic, Dr. McCord is currently involved in a collaborative research project with the University of Ontario, Institute of Technology entitled “The effects of OTZ Technique on neural function, health and well-being”. The goal of this study is to determine whether this upper neck problem affects brain processes as well as over health and well-being. The preliminary results of this study will be presented at the World Federation of Chiropractic Consortium in Berlin in March, 2019.
